Sr Nat Judo championship in Vijayawada from Jan 11

Vijayawada, Dec 2 (UNI) The five-day senior national judo championship will be held at the DRM corporation indoor stadium here from January 11, organising committee chairman and Krishna District Collector Naveen Mittal said today.

At a press conference here, he said nearly 950 judoists, including 250 women and 12 department teams from all over the country would participate in the championship.

The national team selected during the tourney would participate in the international event to be held next year.

Andhra Pradesh State Judo Associataion secretary B Kailash Yadav said the championship is being organised by the Judo Federation of India, State Judo Associataion and the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh.

The state championship event would be held in Karimnagar from December 21 and the team selected during the event would take part in the National championship here, he added.

Andhra Pradesh would host World Military Judo championship in which 78 countries would participate and conduct the South Asian Judo championship. Both the event would be held at Hyderabad in October 2007, he added.
