Korea, China record huge wins in women's hockey

Doha, Dec 2 (UN1) Defending champion South Korea and title contender China started their quest for Gold with resounding victories over their rivals in the women's hockey competition at the Asian Games here today.

China pasted Hong Kong 9-0 while Korea Routed Chinese Taipei 8-0.

In the third match of the day, Japan drubbed Malaysia 7-0.

The scorelines of the three matches make an ominous reading for India who will play their first match against Chinese Taipei tomorrow.

The top two teams will qualify for the Beijing Olympics and India will need all the skill and luck to put it across China and Korea and even Japan in the subsequent matches.

Korea led 6-0 at half time against Chinese Taipei. Mi Hyun Park, Eun Young Choi, Tae Jeong Han (2 each), Young Soon Park, Na Young Kang (1 each ) were the scorers.
