Sidhu sends fresh letter of resignation to Speaker
New Delhi, Dec 2: BJP MP and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu today submitted a fresh letter of resignation from the Lok Sabha to Speaker Somnath Chatterjee after his first letter was rejected by the Chair saying it was not in accordance with the rules.
In his one-sentence letter, Mr Sidhu said, ''I hereby tender my resignation from the Lok Sabha.'' Mr Chatterjee was not in Delhi and his office had received the letter, sources at Mr Sidhu's residence said.
Mr Sidhu had resigned from the Amritsar seat following his conviction by Punjab High Court yesterday holding him guilty of a road rage killing of a person 18 years ago. He had earlier been absolved of the charges by a Patiala sessions court.
The court is to fix the quantum of punishment on Wednesday.
