Saurashtra scores 122 for 2 in reply to Baroda's 406
Rajkot, Dec 2 (UNI) Saurashtra scored 122 for two in their first innings in reply to Baroda's first innings total of 406 on the second day of the four-day Super league Ranji encounter at the Madhavrao Scindia Ground here today.
Saurashtra were off to a poor start, losing opener Kanaiya Vaghela (2), when the team score read 27. Sagar Jogiyani and veteran Sitanshu Kotak put on 93 runs for the second wicket before Sagar fell to spinner R Pawar. His half century (58), for which he faced 167 deliveries, was studded with 10 fours.
At stumps, Sitanshu Kotak was batting on 53 and Kamlesh Makwana was on one. Earlier, Baroda resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 267 for five and William Connors continued from where he left, put up a dominating performance against Saurashtra as Baroda took a firm grip over the match.
Connors missed his double ton by just two runs as he was trapped LBW off Rakesh Dhruve. He played some of his trademark shots, including cover drives and straight drives to compound the miseries of the Saurashtra bowlers. Williams(198) batted for 483 minutes and hit 28 fours off 361 balls.
Baroda's innings folded up at 406, few minutes before lunch.
Medium Pacer Sandip Jobanputra finished four for 91 while S Natkan, R Dhruve and Kamlesh Makwana shared two wickets each.
