Russia For Min says meeting on Iran due on Tuesday

MOSCOW, Dec 2 (Reuters) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today a six-party meeting on Iran will take place on Tuesday, reversing previous comments that talks had been put off due to differences, Russian agencies reported.

''As a result of .. efforts including those undertaken by Russia the meeting of political directors of the six on Iran will take place on Tuesday,'' Interfax news agency quoted Lavrov as saying.

''We assume that the goal of the document won't be a striving to punish Iran,'' Lavrov said, referring to a draft resolution on sanctions against Iran being discussed in the UN Security Council.
