Rich tributes paid to freedom fighter

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Dec 2 (UNI) Rich tributes were paid to freedom fighter, parliamentarian and industrialist Maddi Sudarshanam at a meeting held on his birth centenary here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah said Mr Sudarshanam, who died in 1994 at the age of 88, drove Mahatma Gandhi in 1930 from Vijayawada to his house in Guntur in his own car.

Mr Sudarshanam was a member of the Lok Sabha for ten years and also member of legislative council for 12 years, he added.

Guntur MP Sambasivarao and others participated in the meeting.
