Raj Bhawan Lucknow: A journey in pages interspersed with images

Lucknow, Dec 2 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar today released a book 'Raj Bhawan Lucknow: A Historical Perspective' in a function organized at the majestic precincts of the Raj Bhawan.

The book has been edited by Late P C Pant, former HoD, Ancient History, Culture and Archeological Department, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Varanasi.

The book has been published by North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Allahabad. Eminent photo-journalist Ravi Kapoor has contributed the photographs and images.

The-244 page book has been classified into three parts. The first part deals with the Raj Bhawan, Lucknow with a historical persepctive, an architectural perspective and biographical sketches of Lt Governors and Governors.

The second part depicts architecture of UP through the ages and third part contains the historical background of the state during Vedic period, urbanization and beginning of the empire building process, beginning of classicalism and thereafter.

UP under Delhi Sultanate, under Mughals and Awadh between 1722 and 1947 AD: A period of political foray.

There are photographs of the Raj Bhawan building from different views, guest rooms, Raj Bhawan lawns, garden, fruit garden, marble statues, antiques and silverware, rare paintings of the Raj Bhawan and wooden furniture of British era.
