Rahul's mantra: One 'model school' in every block

Sultanpur, Dec 2 (UNI) Congress MP from Amethi parliamentary segment Rahul Gandhi today expressed his desire to set up at least one 'model school' in every block of his high-profile constituency.

Mr Gandhi, who kicked-off his three-day Amethi tour this morning, was holding a meeting with local non-government primary, junior and inter college principals at A H Inter College, Jagdishpur.

The MP observed that the teachers and pupils of such model institutions would serve as role models for society.

Meanwhile, the principals apprised the Congress leader of the difficulties they faced in creating an atmosphere of learning in the area.

Assuring all possible help in this regard, Mr Gandhi, however, emphasised that the quality of education must be maintained at all cost.

He asked the principals to engage only experienced and efficient educators as teachers in their institutions, so that the students benefit the most and realise their dreams.

Mr Gandhi also ensured the media was kept away from his programme.

Tomorrow, he would hold a similar meeting with principals of private schools and colleges in the Amethi assembly segment.
