PDK volunteers arrested for agitating on Rajapakhe visit

Puducherry, Dec 2 (UNI) As many as 47 volunteers of the Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam(PDK) were arrested when they assembled at Ariyankuppam near here to block the bus in which the family members of Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyer were travelling.

The agitation was to protest the invitation extended by Mr Aiyer to the Sri Lankan President Rajapakse to attend the marriage of his daughter.

The family members of Mr Aiyer were travelling from Chennai to Mayiladuthurai, his native place in a luxury bus and the volunteers had planned to block the vehicle at Ariyankuppam when it passed through Puducherry.

Police, however, swung into action and arrested the volunteers as a preventive measure, before the bus reached here.
