Nanavati Commission urged to consider POTA review panel report
Ahmedabad, Dec 2 (UNI) An NGO, representing the Godhra riot victims, today urged the Nanavati-Shah Commission to take into consideration the Central POTA Review Committee's (CPRC) contention that there was no terrorism or conspiracy angle in the Sabarmati Express incident of February 27, 2002.
The NGO Jan Sangharsh Manch's advocate Mukul Sinha submitted that as the CPRC was a statutory body and its findings has not been challenged by any body including the Gujarat Government, the Commission should consider its report, a release said.
The Central POTA Review Committee, headed by retired Allahabad High Court Judge S C Jain, in its report on the arrests made under POTA for the train inferno, had said it found prima facie evidence to suggest that the incident was more a reaction of a fight than an act of terrorism or conspiracy.
