Mother Mary's statue desecrated

Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka, Dec 2 (UNI) A tense situation prevailed in the area following some unknown miscreants defiling a statue of Mother Mary in a convent at Kannur village, about 13 km from here.

Sr Peter of the Rosarian Sisters, praying for world peace and harmony, told UNI that the statue, installed in 2004, was defaced by some miscreants yesterday night. A complaint had been lodged with the police.

Arch Bishop of Bangalore Bernard Moras visited the place and condemned the act.
