Major fire in garment export unit

Karur, Tamil Nadu Dec 2 (UNI) Garments and other textile goods worth several lakhs of rupees meant for export were gutted in a major fire in a private garment export unit here today.

Police said an electrical short circuit was suspected to be the cause of the fire. However, the exact reason would be known only after a thorough investigation, they added.

On information fire tenders rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire with the support of locals. However, no one was injured in the mishap.
