Lt-Col's body being brought to Bhopal

Bhopal, Dec 2 (UNI) The mortal remains of Lieutenant-Colonel Pankaj Jha -- who was stationed at the Northern Command Headquarters Udhampur and committed suicide yesterday by sustaining a gunshot wound from his service revolver -- are likely to be conveyed to his hometown Bhopal by tomorrow afternoon.

The officer recently resumed duty after a long leave. The Army has ordered an inquiry.

It is a cruel coincidence that city-based Lt Sushmita Chakraborty (25), who was attached to the Army Services Corps 5071 Battalion, also allegedly shot herself with a sentry's rifle at Udhampur on June 15.

Lt-Col Jha's family sources said that he was cheerful during his leave and did not even mention any problem. The officer's wife and daughter also reside here along with his father.
