Liquor worth Rs 7.4 lakh seized in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Dec 2 (UNI) In a drive against illegal liquor in Gujarat, the police have seized liquor worth Rs 7,41,140 from different parts of the state and 16 persons were arrested in this connection.

The release said the liquor, including country, Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer, was confiscated during the past two days.

From Vasna village in Ahmedabad city, 252 bottles containing IMFL worth Rs 75,600 were seized. About 1,225 litres of Country liquor amounting to Rs 24,500 was seized. Ganja was also seized from Amber Cinema area here amounting to 3.20 kg worth Rs 19,920 and seven persons were held in this connection.

In Baharpura, Dhoraji of Rajkot district, 96 bottles of IMFL worth Rs 31,800 and Rs 200 cash were seized. In Vadodara city, 68 bottles of IMFL and nine bottles of beer worth Rs 27,900 were seized. From Kabilpur grid of Navsari district, 96 bottles of IMFL valued at Rs 27,480 were seized.

From Dhodigam of Panchmahals in Godhra district, IMFL worth Rs 23,100 and beer bottles worth Rs 28,800 were confiscated. From Madhwas chowkdi in Lunawada police limits, 1,056 bottles of IMFL and 72 beer bottles worth Rs 49,440 were seized. Udrafadia under Kotba police station, IMFL and beer worth Rs 12,380 were seized.

In Surat, 2,645 bottles containing IMFL worth Rs 1,49,420 were seized.

At Vadoli village, 1,884 bottles of IMFL worth Rs 99,600 were seized.

In Anand district, 130 beer bottles worth Rs 11,300 were seized, the release added.
