Bangalore, Dec 2: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Mallikarjuna Kharge today petitioned the Election Commission that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has once again violated the model code of conduct to woo the electorate of the Chamundeswari Assembly seat, going to polls on December four.

In a petition submitted to Election Observer Raymond Peter, he alleged that Mr Kumaraswamy had announced a new self-employment scheme for unemployed youth in an election rally yesterday. The announcement was intended to further the prospects of the JD(S) candidate, he contended, appealing to the EC to initiate appropriate action against the Chief Minister and the State Government.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minister, who was reprimanded by the EC for violating the model code of conduct by promising Rs 5,000 loan to SC/ST people for self-employment, had announced yesterday that the State was planning to formulate a new scheme for unemployed youth to sanction loans with low interest rate to start their own enterprises.
