Jamshedpur, Dec 2 (UNI) Displaying a painstaking slow cricket, Jammu and Kashmir managed to post 208 for three in their first innings in reply to Jharkhand's 242 runs all out on the second day of the four-day Ranji trophy plate group B match here today.

At stumps, Majid Dar was playing on 41 facing 200 balls with the help of three boundaries and Dhruv Mahajan remained unbeaten on 30 clearing the fence five times.

The visitors resumed at overnight 19 for one and both the not out batsmen captain Arshad Bhat and Kanvaljeet Singh played cautiously in a flat wicket. But Bhat had to depart first soon after completing his half-century as medium pacer S S Rao struck. Bhat hit eight fours in his 100-ball innings and put 93 runs in the second wicket stand with Singh.

After dismissal of Bhat, Dar joined Singh, who also hit half-century (63) before being trapped off Rao. Singh, who hit seven boundaires, added 50 runs with Dar in the third wicket partnership.

Jharkhand bowlers toiled hard without getting any help from the wicket and uses as many as six bowlers including three spinners. But except Rao, who picked up both the wickets sparing 40 runs, others returned with empty hands. Skipper and main strike bowler Sumit Panda took another wicket yesterday and returned with 51 for one.
