Bangalore, Dec 2 (UNI) The three-day International Conference on Digital Information Management-2006, the first of its kind in the country, will be held in the city from December eight.

The event, sponsored by IT giant IBM and IEEE of the US, would be jointly organised by Christ College here and Digital Information Research Foundation (DIRF), Chennai.

DIRF Director Pitchappan told newspersons here today that the conference was intended to bridge the gap between different areas of digital information management, science and technology. It would be attended by over 250 delegates, including 30 foreign dignitaries, representing the academia, research laboratories and industry and offer a collaborative platform to address emerging issues and solutions in the field.

He said the conference would have an industrial exhibition, attended by a large number of industries and participants. IBM would also hold a session on software required for open source technology and display some of their innovative products and services.

Mr Pitchappan said the event would also feature workshops on emerging specific themes significant to the academia and IT community, and tutorials to provide an opportunity to young learners to understand the background and technology behind some of the core areas of information technology.

The next edition of the conference was scheduled to be held in Paris next year, he said.
