IITM 3-day event begins today
Hyderabad, Dec 2 (UNI) Tourism and Cultural Secretary Chitra Ramachandran today inaugurated the three-day India International Travel Mart (IITM) event here.
The show was organised in association with Andhra Pradesh Tourism and more than 100 paricipatants from India and aborad took part in the event.
IITM Director Rohit Hangal said they had successfully completed eight years in organising the events in all major cities in the country.
IITM had created a platform for all sections of the industry to come together for the benefit of the customers, he added.
Mr Hangal said the tourism potential in the country was increasing rapidly and 3.5 million tourists from abroad were visting the country every year.
He said the country was earning five billion US Dollars as foreign exchange from tourists.
He said the current event would provide an ideal 'marketing opportunity' and 'excellent backdrop' to enhance the participants' 'brand equity' for the travel trade. More than ten Governments were promoting their destination at the event, he added.
