HC rejects any solution to Kashmir issue within Indian constitution

Srinagar, Dec 2 (UNI) Supporting Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf's suggestion on Kashmir issue, chairman of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq today rejected any solution to the issue within the framework of Indian Constitution.

Addressing a day-long party delegate convention at Sanantnag Nagar in the uptown, the Mirwaiz claimed that the people of Jammu and Kashmir fully endorsed the suggestion of Gen Musharraf on Kashmir.

''We fully support Musharraf as Pakistan also wants what the people of the state want on Kashmir issue,'' he said.

He said any solution to the Kashmir within the Indian constitution was not acceptable.

The Mirwaiz said the lasting solution to this vexed issue could be achieved only through tripartite talks. However, he said, all the three parties ---India, Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir -- will have to come down to their known stand.

The HC chairman said because of the sacrifices made by the people of the state, the Kashmir issue is now in the focus of world community, including United States and Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).

He said, ''We want a final settlement of the issue which could restore peace in the region.'' The Mirwaiz said HC leaders will visit Pakistan soon to meet the leadership there and find a lasting solution to the issue.
