Non-stop Kolkata-Frankfurt Lufthansa service begins
Kolkata, Dec 02: German National Carrier Lufthansa today commenced its first-ever non-stop service between Kolkata and Frankfurt.
With the launch of this thrice weekly service, India will become the only country in Lufthansa's Asia-Pacific network to be served by six gateways, including those in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. This new non-stop service will provide passengers with better connectivity and more flexibility in their travel plans.
Lufthansa now provides passengers with maximum choice of 45 weekly flighs between India and Germany, enhancing Lufthansa's leading position in India.
Among the passengers in inaugural flight (LN750), which arrived here this morning, were Mr Thierry Antinori, Executive vice-president, Marketing&Sales, and member of the executive Board were given a very warm welcome.
Addressing newsmen here this morning, Mr Antinori said Kolkata had a special place in the history of Lufthansa as it was the first destination in India where Lufthansa commenced scheduled operations on November 1,1959 before moving to Delhi (1963), Mumbai (1965) Chennai (1971) and Bangalore (1994).
