Fatmi To Examine Sachar Findings On Muslims' Education
New Delhi, Dec 2 (UNI) A high level committee was announced tonight to examine the Sachhar Committee findings concerning Educational Status of the Muslim Community and formulate a plan of action.
The 13-member committee constituted by Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh is headed by Minister of State for HRD M A A Fatmi and instructed to report within two months-- by January 31.
The announcement followed Mr Singh's deliberation on the Sachhar Committee recommendations with HRD Ministry officials on Friday.
The Committee members: former HRD Secretary Sudeep Bannerjee, Advisor, Secondary Education Secretary Champak Chatterjee, Higher Education Secretary R P Agarwal, Jawaharlal Nrhru University Vice Chancellor B B Bhattacharya and Hyderabad University VC Syed E Hasnain.
They also include JNU Professor Zoya Hassan, National Minorities Education Monitoring Committee Standing Committee Chairman Zafar Ali Naqvi, Jamia Hamdard Chancellor Saiyed Hamid, University Grants Commission Vice Chairman Mool Chand Sharma, National Education Research and Training Council Director Krishna Kumar, Central Secondary Education Board Chairman Ashok Ganguly and Higher Education Joint Secretary Sunil Kumar.
