Exams rescheduled in Asom after question papers leaked out

Diphu, Dec 2 (UNI) Test examinations of two subjects for Class IX, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam, (SEBA), have been rescheduled in Karbi Anglong district of Asom after the question papers were leaked out.

Examination for Social Studies, which was held yesterday, and Environmental Science, scheduled for today but later boycotted, would be held at later dates, Inspector of Schools (IS) S K Bhuyan informed.

There had been allegations that the question papers of all the subjects were being sold in the market. Mr Bhiyan also informed of an enquiry into the entire episode.

Earlier today, the All India Students' Association and the Karbi Students' Association ransacked the IS's office in Diphu. Property worth Rs eight lakh were destroyed by the students.

Police had to restore to lathi-charge to disperse the protesting students. However, none was injured in the incident.

About ten protestors were picked up by police and cases had been registered against them in the Diphu police station.
