Disabled in K'taka to observe black day tomorrow
Bangalore, Dec 2 (UNI) Peeved at the Karnataka Government's lackadaisical approach in solving the problems of physically challenged persons, the Karnataka State Disabled People's Federation have decided to observe International Disability Day tomorrow as a black day.
Informing this to newspersons here today, Federation Working President Ramu alleged that while the world celebrated International Disability Day tomorrow, the diabled in the State were in a deplorable condition due to the Government's sheer negligence in solving their problems.
He said that eventhough the State Government was bound to earmark a minimum of Rs 300 crore for their welfare, the Government had set apart only Rs 63 lakh. Having failed to come out with any welfare programme for the disabled, the State Government was taking no action to implement the provisions of the Disability Act, 1995.
