CR cancels Deccan Queen for 3rd day
Pune, Dec 2 (UNI) The Central Railway authorities today cancelled the run of Deccan Queen between Pune and Mumbai for the third consecutive day after its five coaches were burnt to ashes when Dalit protestors set it ablaze near Ulhasnagar in Thane district of Maharashtra on Thursday.
Central Railway PRO Y K Singh told UNI that the authorities in Mumbai were struggling to find chair cars to truncate the half-damaged train. The train is also likely to be cancelled tomorrow.
The Deccan Express, which was cancelled yesterday, will however run on Sunday as per its scheduled time.
Concerned over their safety, many passengers avoided the journey to Pune. The morning trains like the Pragati Express had very few passengers and almost all the coaches were empty, sources added.
