Court takes cognizance against DTO

Patna, Dec 2 (UNI) The special vigilance court today took cognizance against former District Transport Officer(DTO) of Patna Brijraj Rai in a case related to transfer of ownership of a vehicle in the name of RJD MP Anirudh Prasad by forging the document.

During the day, the court took cognizance in the case under various sections of India Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption Act following submission of sanction order for prosecution of Mr Rai by state vigilance bureau, which was granted by the state government.

Earlier, a chargesheet was filed by the bureau in the case against Mr Rai, presently lodged in jail since September 6,2006. The investigation was also underway in the case against Mr Yadav.

According to the charges, a vehicle registered in the name of a person in Delhi Motor licencing authority had been transferred fradulently in favour of Mr Yadav at Patna district transport office during 2004-06.
