Congress charge 'baseless', says Barot
Ahmedabad, Dec 2 (UNI) General secretary of the BJP's State unit and MP Jayantibhai Barot called the allegation made by Congress spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil regarding the crime rate in the state as 'baseless'. Sinh had recently stated that BJP-ruled Gujarat has become 'unsafe'.
As per data available from the National Crime Record Bureau, the average crime rate in the country per lakh is 18.4 per cent. If the crime rate in Congerss-ruled states is compared then Gujarat stands at a low of 11.5 per cent. In Assam it is 31 per cent; Jharkhand 29.2 per cent; Kerala 28.4 per cent; Delhi 26.4 per cent; Karnataka 21.9 per cent; Haryana 18.2 per cent and Maharashtra 18.1 per cent, said Barot in a release.
Mr Barot said instead of accusing the state government, Mr Gohil should urge the UPA government to improve the law and order situatin Congress-ruled states.
