Centre will protect beedi industry: APCC chief
Hyderabad, Dec 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President K Keshava Rao today said Union Health Minister A Ramadoss and Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes had categorically assured to protect the interests of the beedi workers in the country.
Addressing a news conference at party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan here, he said the Centre would decide on the Central Government Act on printing pictoral warning of 'skull and bones' on beedi packs, which would come into force from February next.
He alleged that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was creating confusion and panic among the beedi workers.
