Campaign for Manihari Assembly byelection ends
Patna, Dec 2 (UNI) Campaign for December four byelection to Manihari Assembly seat ended this evening with RJD president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad addressing several public meetings in the constituency in favour of UPA candidate.
Apart from Mr Prasad, several stalwarts, including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Union Minister and senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad and others campaigned in the constituency for the past 15 days.
A direct contest between Congress candidate Hamid Mubarak, the joint candidate of the UPA, and JD(U) candidate Vishwanath Singh was on the cards in the segment.
Altogether 11 candidates are in the fray.
Counting would be taken up on December seven.
Byelection was necessitated following the demise of the sitting Congress MLA Mobarak Hussain.
