All accused in Rajnath motorcade killing acquitted

Varanasi, Dec 2 (UNI) A Fast Track Court here has acquitted all the 13 accused in the December 2004 killing of a BJP worker during the cross-fire between rival groups forming the motorcade of party president Rajnath Singh.

The court hearing the two cases filed by rival groups yesterday acquitted all the 13 people, including Sanjay Singh (presently a municipal corporator), Pankaj Singh, Ramesh Rai, Rajesh, Manoj Singh, Vijay Singh and Ram Singh, accused of murdering Pratap Singh on December 5, 2004.

The prosecution said Pratap was killed in the cross-fire between rival groups for staying ahead in the convoy of Mr Rajnath Singh in Bhagwanpur area under Lanka police station on the fateful day.

Following the killing, rival groups headed by party MLA Ajay Rai and Sushil Singh, had filed two cases against 13 people.
