300 gold dollars missing from Tirumala temple
Tirumala, Dec 2: Gold dollars of five gm each, numbering 300 and valued at Rs 13 lakh have been found missing from the sales counter at the famous Sri Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala.
The matter came to light when Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD) officials were verifying records at the counter inside the temple, which sells five gm and 10 gm gold and silver dollars with the imprint of Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavathi.
TTD officials said here today Executive Officer A P V N Sarma had ordered an internal inquiry by Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Hari Kumar.
The shroff in charge of the sales counter, Chalapathi, had been suspended, Mr Hari Kumar told sources.
