11 killed as bus rolls down the hill in HP

Solan, Dec 2 (UNI) At least 11 persons were killed on the spot and several others injured at Jokhri, 10-km from here, in Himachal Pradesh when a state-run bus rolled about 200 metre down the hill on the Kalka-Shimla national highway today.

The Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation(HRTC) bus was on its way from Shimla to Delhi when the accident occurred around 1215 hrs, police sources said.

Rescue and relief teams rushed to the spot.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh alongwith senior police and district officers reached the spot to supervise the rescue operations.

The injured persons were rushed to nearby Kandaghat and Solan hospitals while the seriously injured were taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital (IGMC), Shimla.

The Chief Minister expressed deep shock over the accident and asked the district administration to provide all possible help to the victims.

The cause and other details are awaited.
