World AIDS Day observed in Haryana
Chandigarh, Dec 1 (UNI) World AIDS Day was observed today throughout Haryana under which all the three tires of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and the youth of Red Ribbon Clubs were involved to make the people aware about the menace of this deadly disease.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the state level function would be organised tomorrow at War Heroes Memorial Stadium Ambala Cantt.
The Chief Guest of the function would be Union Minister of State for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Kumari Selja.
The Legislators, Chairpersons of Zila Parishads and Municipal Councils, Social and Voluntary organisations would attend the function so that the AIDS awareness message was spread in every nook and corner of the state. The only preventive measure against the disease was dissemination of information about the disease.
He said that all the Sarpanches of Haryana had also been requested to sensitise the village community about HIV/AIDS. Red Ribbon Clubs of youth were being formed in each college to disseminate AIDS awareness among the respective villages.
He said the Haryana AIDS Control Society was implementing all the programmes as per guidelines of National AIDS Control Organisation to control the spread of this disease and also to provide care and support to the needed.
