Withdrawal of sovereign guarantee to LIC under consideration

New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) The government today informed the Lok Sabha that it was considering a recommendation for withdrawal of sovereign guarantee to the policies of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).

The recommendation has been made by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) with a view to providing a level playing field to all insurers in the opened up insurance sector, Minister of State (MoS) for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal said in a written reply.

MARUTI: No decision has been taken for the sale of government's remaining shareholding in Maruti Udyog Ltd, MoS for Finance S S Palanimanickam said.
