Williams' century enables Baroda score 267 on day one

Rajkot, Dec 1 (UNI) Riding on the unbeaten century by Connor Williams (146), Baroda scored 267 for five in their first innings today against Saurashtra on the opening day of the four-day Super League Ranji encounter here at the Madhavrav Scindia Cricket ground.

Put into bat by Saurashtra skipper Jaydev Shah after winning the toss, Baroda got off to a dismal start as opener Rishiskesh Parab was out for seven in the fifth over to an outside edge off medium pacer Sandip Jobanputra which was gleefully accepted by wicket-keeper Sagar Jogiyani, when the score was 12.

Ajit Bhoite joined Connor williams and steadied the ship. The duo added 63 runs for the second wicket before Ajit fell to spinner S Natkan for 17. Connor Williams smashed 20 fours in his unbeaten strokefull innings of 146 and shared third wicket partnership of 133 runs with Jacob Martin (64).

After a cautious start, Williams punished the loose deliveries, hitting some well-timed boundaries. During his 375-minute stay at the crease, he faced 288 balls. Martin also palyed sensible innings and made 64 in which he executed eleven fours while facing 131 balls.

At stumps, Connor Wlliams and Ketan Panchal were batting on 146 and six runs respectively.

Medium pacer Sandip Jobantputra scalped three wickets for 57 while S Natkan and K Makwana shared one wicket each.
