Uttaranchal, UP still locking horns on bus trips
Dehra Dun, Nov 1 (UNI) Uttaranchal Transport Minister Hira Singh Bisht alleged that Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation was plying more buses than specified in the agreement to this regard between the two states.
''UP Roadways is plying 50 to 70 per cent trips in excess, in a clear breach of the agreement signed between the two,'' he said.
Stressing on the peaceful resolution of issue through talks, Mr Bisht told reporters that Uttaranchal Roadways Corporation may move court if the issue was not solved.
He said Uttaranchal Roadways has incurred a profit of Rs 9 crore. He informed that the Corporation has increased the compensation for those killed in accidents from the existing Rs 20000 to Rs 50000.
The minister said in a bid to improve bus services the MoUs with Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan have also been signed.
