Jail Minister Pranab Debbarma told newsmen here yesterday that the govenment had ordered for a Magisterial level inquiry after the incidents of scuffles between prison staff and jail inmates on November 22.

The jail inmates had resorted to violence on November 22 when the prison staffs were distributing food as a result many of them sustained minor injuries, sources said.
The inmates went on a hunger strike for two days after that alleging that food provided to them were very bad quality and demanded for increase in the daily wages.
However, the ruling government had accused the opposition Congress to have provoked the inmates on occassion of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's birth anniversary last month.
