Three children of a family burnt alive

Ludhiana, Dec 1 (UNI) Three children were burnt alive in sleep when a thatched hut caught fire near Bhola colony on the Tajpur Road in the city this morning, police said.

The deceased were identified as Mukesh Rishi (10), Arjun Rishi (8) and Sonia (6). Their charred bodies were recovered and sent for post mortem.

The hut was completely gutted in the fire.

However, three other children of the family, belonging to Purnia district of Bihar, and their parents were away from the hut when it caught fire due a burning candle.

The hut is approachable on foot only. By the time fire tenders reached the site, the hut was razed to the ground.
