Tata Steel observes World AIDS Day
Jamshedpur, Dec 1 (UNI) Tata Steel today observed the World AIDS Day by organising various programmes all across its operations, including here.
''Stop AIDS! Keep the Promise'' was the theme of the World AIDS Day, organized by Tata Steel Core Group-AIDS. This theme,chosen by World Aids Organisation for the year 2006 emphasised on the critical need to meet current commitments towards increasing the global response to AIDS and reach universal access to treatment, care, and prevention by 2010.
On the World AIDS Day,Tata Steel's Core Group organised breakfast with HIV affected people and their families at the TSFIF Auditorium here to raise awareness about the disease.
During the programme various key issues regarding HIV/AIDS were discussed, including difficulties faced by patients, social stigma, attitude of families and neighbours.
An infotainment programme was also organized by the Tata Steel Core AIDS Group in the evening.
The Tata Steel Family Initiative Foundation in association with PLWIIA distributed 30,000 Red Ribbons amongst the casual labourers, truck drivers,bus drivers and other people participating in World AIDS Day Programme. The Red Ribbons were distributed as a part of the awareness campaign taken up by Tata Steel.
In addition to this, Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) West Bokaro, organised a road show on AIDS Awareness,the company sources said.
