Sub-inspector's death could be murder

Bhind, MP, Dec 1 (UNI) In the wake of a lady sub-inspector being found dead in suspicious circumstances here, the district's Superintendent of Police has been directed to proceed on leave until an inquiry is over.

Mr Rajababu Singh was given the order by Inspector-General (Chambal Range) Vijay Yadav who told UNI that the preliminary probe and medical report could not make it clear whether Ms Chetna Sharma's death was a suicide or murder.

''Further action will be taken on the basis of witnesses and the report. The deceased officer's cellphone has been seized,'' Mr Yadav added.

Crime Investigation Department IG Reena Mishra is here from Bhopal for the inquiry.

Ms Sharma (30), who was residing alone at the Police Lines Quarters, was found dead last night. Her body bore gunshot wounds.
