Stone pelting incidents continue in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Dec 1 (UNI) Stone-pelting incidents to protest the desecration of statue of Dr B R Ambedkar at Kanpur continued in this and Sangli districts of Western Maharashtra today.

Dalit activists, including women and youth, gathered at the city's central bus stand and appealed the shopkeepers to down the shutters.

Police picked up the activists, who were released later.

A delegation of RPI leaders met District Collector Pravin Darade and submitted a memorandum and demanded action against the perpetrators.

Mr Darade assured them that he would forward the memorandum to higher authorities for necessary action.
