Sri Lanka 141-3 at stumps in first tour match

ADELAIDE, Nov 30 (Reuters) Sri Lanka were 141 for three at stumps on the first day of their opening New Zealand tour game against Otago today.

Kumar Sangakarra was unbeaten on 51 with Tillekaratne Dilshan 14 not out after much of the day was washed out by rain in Dunedin.

Sri Lanka, who play New Zealand at Christchurch next week in the first of two tests, made a terrible start when opener Sanath Jayasuriya was bowled by Gareth Shaw for a first-ball duck in the opening over.

Upul Tharanga made 19 before he was bowled by Bradley Scott then Mahela Jayawardene chipped in with 48 before he was caught by Craig Cumming at slip off Craig Smith.

The first test against New Zealand begins next Thursday with the second match starting in Wellington on Dec 15. Sri Lanka are also due to play two Twenty20 matches and five one-day internationals on the six-week tour.
