Soz condemns Rajnath's statement on Sachar report

Srinagar, Dec 1 (UNI) Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today said BJP president Rajnath Singh's statement in which he described the Sachar Committee report as ''shameful and communal'' need to be rejected with deepest condemnation.

''It is highly deplorable that the BJP president should react to the Sachar Committee report in the most sectarian and communal way.

It is yet another proof that the BJP will ever remain a sectarian, communal and reactionary organisation in the country,'' Prof Soz said in a statement here.

He said it was an extremely deplorable statement by a party that does not accept that Muslims were educationally, economically and socially backward as proved by facts and figures made public by the Sachar Committee against a scientific criteria.

''The Rajnath Singhs of the BJP should summon a bit of courage and apologise to the Congress for its (BJP's) unabashed accusation that successive governments at the Centre had been appeasing Muslims all these years,'' Prof Soz added.
