Sonia will solve beedi workers problem: Minister

Hyderabad, Dec 1: Andhra Pradesh Rural Development Minister D Srinivas today said AICC President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will solve the beedi workers problem immediately after the by-poll to Karimnagar and Bobbili Lok Sabha seats on December 4 was over.

Addressing the press here, he said the state government was committed to finding a solution to the pictorial depiction of skull and crossbones on beedi packets as it could hamper the livelihood of workers. The Government would take care of the beedi workers.

Stating the problem was not confined to the state but also to 3.5 crore beedi workers in the country, he alleged opposition parties were trying to gain political mileage for the by-poll.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had brought the issue to the Centre's notice and the problem would be solved at the earliest.
