Situation improving in JK : Governor

Jammu, Dec 1 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha today said the situation in this militancy infested state is improving and needs to be strengthened.

Opening a seven-day national art festival at kala kendra here this evening, the Governor called upon artists to contribute in heralding peace in the state, saying that a breeze of change is already blowing in the valley that has undergone a traumatic phase of militancy.

''Event like such camps help interaction between varied segments of society,'' he said, adding that these activities are imperative for strengthening national integration in the country especially Jammu and Kashmir.

He expressed happiness over the participation of reputed artists of the country in the camp and hoped that this will immensely benefit the budding artists of the state. ''They too will get exposure to big names in the field,'' he said.

The Governor said Jammu and Kashmir has immense talent and needs exposure at the wider canvass. He noted with statisfication that ten artists of the state have been decorated with national and international honours in the field of art and painting.
