Silver at 6-1/2 mths high, gold rises on bullish global advice

Mumbai, Dec 1 (UNI) Silver today surged to a 6-1/2 month high with a gain of Rs 435 per kg and gold rose to a three-month high on the Bombay Bullion Exchange with a gain of Rs 85 per ten gm on fresh demand and and bullish global advice.

Silver fineness opened on a 6-1/2-months high at Rs 20,510 per kg and on closed at the same level with a massive gain of Rs 435 from yesterday's close.

There was increase of fresh demand from jewellers in view of encouraging advice from overseas market.

In London, the white metal was quoted high at USD 13.90/13.96 per troy ounce against USD 13.65/13.70 per troy ounce in New York.

Similarly, standard Gold (99.5) and pure Gold (99.9) also opened to a three-months high at Rs 9,350 and Rs 9,405 per ten gms respectively on improved demand.

But standard Gold remained firmed and closed at the same level at Rs 9,350 while pure gold eased slightly and closed at Rs 9,395 with a huge gain of Rs 85 each from its last close.

In London, the yellow metal rose at USD 646.80/647.80 per troy ounce as compared to USD 635.20/639.20 per troy ounce at New York on Thursday.
