Rajnath makes no comment on Sidhu's conviction

New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) BJP President Rajnath Singh refused to make any comment on the conviction of party MP and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in a 1988 murder case today.

''I can say something only after studying the verdict," he said.

Overturning the judgement of a Patiala Sessions Court, the High Court convicted the MP for causing the death of one Gurnam Singh during an altercation in 1988 and held him guilty under section 304(2) of the IPC, and also under section 323 of the IPC for causing injuries to one Jaswinder Singh.

The Patiala court had acquitted Mr Sidhu and his associate in the case in 2000.
