Punjab sets up advisory committee on minority affairs
Chandigarh, Dec 1 (UNI) The Punjab Government has constituted a State Advisory Committee on Minority Affairs with a view to provide a forum for regular interaction and effective redressal of grievances of minorities in the State.
The committee, to be chaired by the Chief Minister, would have Finance Minister and Minister of State for Welfare of SCs and BCs as members among others.
The spokesman also said that the non-official members of the Committee include three prominent citizens representing Muslim Committee, three prominent Citizens representing Christian Community, One prominent citizen each representing Buddhists and Jains. The works of State Advisory Committee would be coordinated by the Minority Welfare Cell in the Chief Minister's office. The State Advisory Committee would meet at least once in three months, he added.
