Bangalore, Dec 1 (UNI) A four-day Coaches Workshop conducted by United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) Coach Louie Cap began at Kinesis Sports Tennis courts here today.

Talking to newsmen here, Dr Cap said that there was no short cut for success. ''People sometime try to become Champions in wrong way but they cannot succeed. It takes years to become a champion and one should concentrate on learning basics of the game, and to learn the basic a good coach is a must'', he said.

He said that Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) was a standardised certifying Agency with 10,500 members in 123 countries.

PTR mission is to educate, certify and service tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.

Dr Cap said that ''good Coach is one who knows the basix. If you have a good basic you will get success and there is no short cut to learn basics''.

Since establishment of PTR in India with Delhi being the headquarters more than 500 coaches had been trained so far.

USPTR certification was internationally recognised by the ATP and other international tennis federations in the world. Certification was awarded as International Master Professional, Master Professional, Professional, Instructor and Associate Instructor depending upon the performance in the examination conducted after the Clinic.

Replying to a question, he said that there was no systamatic grading by the ITF where PTR goes into deep and grades were allotted based on the performance and capability to coach by an individual.

Kinesis founder-Director Krishna Kumar said that it is a great opportunity to the participants to learn more about coaching right from the basics.

About 25 Coaches from various parts of the country and from Sri Lanka are participating in the four-day clinic.
