Minorities Commission meets bureaucrats
Kohima Dec 01 (UNI) National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities members yesterday met Nagaland government officials to elicit views on different matters, including upliftment of socio- economic condition of socially and economically backward in the religions and linguistic minorities.
According to official sources here today the five-member commission headed by Justice Raganath Mishra, former Chief Justice of India, was constituted by the Centre to suggest criteria for identification of socially and economically backward among the said minorities, recommend measures for their welfare.
Members of the Commission Asha Das and Dr Anil Wilson accompanied by Abdul Rashid, Deputy Secretary to the Commission, also held separate meetings with representatives of banks and social organizations.
During the meeting with State government officials, Asha Das said the Commission is visiting various states and Union Territories for interaction with government, social organizations and academicians and the Commission will submit its report to the Centre by March 2007.
