Meghalaya observes World AIDS Day
Shillong, Dec 1 (UNI) A two-wheeler rally, walk through the streets and awareness programmes hosted by government agencies and many ngos marked World AIDS Day in Meghalaya today.
State Governor M M Jacob presided a programme at Raj Bhawan and administered a 'Count on Me' oath among the participants to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS and advsied them not to discriminate the infected people. He also released the Count on Me album appealed to the people to put a joint effort to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Meghalaya AIDS Control Society in association with the United Nations Office on Drug and Crimes (UNODC) held awareness programme in which state home minister Robert Garnet Lyngdoh took part and called upon the poople to fight against the disease.
The two-wheeler which was flagged off by Eastern Air Command, Air Officer-Command F.H. Major saw a six-year-old Dathrang Murphy Kurbah advocating ills of the HIV/Aids.
